went for svc again on sunday.
i somehow prefer sunday services.
i like starting my day praising God.
seems to set the tone for the day.
saw lao ban on my way in so sat with them for service.

the service was good.
was able to be more focused.
think coz usually on sat i gotta serve for cc.
so nt that easy to get plugged in.
enjoyed the service and felt God's presence tangibly.

saw howard and annie after the service.
really glad to have been able to see them and talk to them. ^^
annie looked really different.
first time i saw here in contact lens and she looked so pretty.
gave her rocher and tat was when i knew it was her bday on sat.
HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY, ANNIE!
hopefully we'll get to chill out together soon.

speaking of them reminds me that i have yet to blog abt the zone camp so might as well do it now.

the zone camp was a much awaited one after the one in 2004.
i was a team leader this time round.
it was definitely not an easy job.
applaud audrey and kk for being such awesome team leaders during our synergy camp.
my team is made up of mainly secondary school students, with gwen in my group again. ^^
junxian and samuel were the youngest on the team but they were indeed a great sport.
great job!

summary of the camp events...

day one...
we did up our team flags and came up with a performance for the bbq that night.
our team was called SUNSHINE, with a whole lot of meaning behind our flag.
we did a short drama for the night performance.
pst yock kiang graced the event and preached abt the 4 friends of the paralytic.
learnt a lot abt friendships that night and was challenged to move in a different directions in my friendship.

xian went down for altar call.
really glad that he was able to rededicate his life as he entered another stage of his life.
we had a get connected time.
it was great to have been able to worship God in such a manner.
pretty symbolic to have ended a day and start another fellowshipping God.
we prayed for tianhui for his bday as we didnt get to on sat.
after that, the cg girls went ard washing toilets with me.
they are amazing in their willingness, esp since none of us actually wash toilets at home.
i think by far, i only did so at home once.
amazing how yl and some of them stepped out and started picking up hair on the grd etc.
the guys on security duty wanted us to sleep but somehow the girls weren't willing to go to bed till they were done with the toilets.

chatted with gwen and xiao eileen in the room.
barely had sleep and was soon time to wake up again.
the room was super cold...

day two...
skipped morning exercise to collect oranges with fiona.
asked for permission.
by the time we came back, morning pt was almost over. =p

played the bombing game before we went off for our telematches.
was pretty challenging and filled with loads of cheering.
there were many new games that we hadn't played before.
it was super duper fun, though tiring.
by the end of the telematch, my voice was pretty much gone, with my throat hurting.

shortly after, the superstars-to-be (gab, tianhui and gwen) went for audition while the rest of the campers played captain's ball.
the 'ball' we used included water bombs, fruits and RAW CHICKEN!
which was pretty much gross.

my team had to play against the leaders.
the leaders had a pretty much strong team with ppl like johnson.
thank God that mel didn't play.
and to our surprise, we actually won by the time the rain came.
got pretty chaotic by the end.
poor johnson got poured with water, with water bombs thrown at him.

had a variety show hosted by chan eng and cecilia after that.
through lunch, my team of 17 grew to 25 or even more.
(we were the largest team then)
to think i was trying so hard to look for the missing ppl the previous day.
we were pretty fast and the team got really enthused eventually.
for a particular object searching game, zihao actually allowed me to cut off his golden hair to earn points for the team.
pretty amazed by that since hair is so precious to ppl these days.

we had a women's meeting and qt after that.
after which, we did up a poster to support gwen for being a superstar finalist.
and soon, the night came and we rooted and voted for our favourites.
when the results were being revealed, i shouted gwen's name so loudly that i felt utterly embarrased by the time i realized what i just did.
by then, my voice was almost gone too.
got to know annie better through the day, with thanks to her members.
she is really nice and fun to talk to. ^^

after that, we prepared for the much awaited sabo-ing of barry.
melvin bought trays of eggs for the occasion.
while bringing the water bombs down, we were stopped in our tracks by howard and quan han.
after explaining that we were gg to sabo barry, somehow they consented and showed signs of support.
i think barry was pretty poor thing to have been sabo-ed so badly.
according to him, the impact of the eggs hitting him were like stones.
he kinda felt as though he was being stoned.
of course with due regards to the mess we created, we had to clear up.
howard was nice in holding up the torch so that we could see and clear up the mess, despite the rain.

bedtime soon came before we knew it.
was talking to barry abt the job-ministry issue outside the bunk.
it is true how when we step up into our calling tha God will then provide the anointing.
and sometimes when we cannot take it, we can take a step back first then continue moving on.
always liked talking to barry cause he is so wise.
did a bit more thinking after that.

somehow cldnt sleep that night.
was trying to sleep on the chair den on the floor but to no avail.
gt out of the rm at 3 plus to have seen the ldrs by the water cooler.
yieling came over to talk to me.
she has always been so loving since day one i joined the cg.
went back into the rm, trying to catch some sleep again.

and when i finally dozed off, we were awoken to play the GAME of LIFE.
was pretty much stoned at first and then gt myself hyped up to wake others up.
wondered how i cld manage that.

during the game, we gt to buy stuff frm yieping who owns a supermarket.
worked in a teleco company for ms chio (annie).
served cip at a nursing home with johnson (who dressed up like a nurse)
and having sung a birthday song for policeman howard.
(he probably heard the song a dozen time in the short span of time).
the game was really unique and enjoyable.
wenling shared with us the rationale of the game at the end.
which was in flow with what pastor has been preaching abt the marketplace. ^^
really appreciated the leaders' effort and hard work they put in to further ingrained the msg in us and help us apply it in our lives.

we kinda expected a night game which is similar to the one we had at synergy camp.
but this was fun in its own way and reflected great creativity.
the leaders really go from glory to glory. ^^

day three...
we had captain ball (the real thing), basketball and soccer tournament.
i ran ard with yang's cam since he was pretty much stoned.
had great fun playing with the cam, gg ard shooting.
annie taught me the proper technique in using the mop while i was trying to clean up a wet patch.
pretty cool!
helped her out with the mixing of the drinks after that.
so fun to actually to be a drink-taster (if there is such a word).

after that we had to clear out our bunks and wash toilets.
the guys had their display of manhood when they came in to help us rearrange the furniture.
they were really awesome.
and with thanks to them, we finished very quickly and had bunk bonding time.
and that was when the idea of appreciating the leaders came up.
thank God for the amount of construction paper we had and a previously thought of idea by Gab that i cld quickly adapt and do sth within the short span of time.
it was hear-warming and amazing to see how the entire bunk 3 work together to produce the cards.
the power of unity is really unbeatable! girls go!

thanks howard for being so understanding to allow us to clean up after we wash up later in the day!
if not we would not been able to have the bonding time too.
had a talk by a psychiatrist after that on happiness.
after that we had a mass dance class. coolness!
and after that, it was dressing up time for prom night.
we were still trying to get the cards signed while some went out to bring their friends.
thanks hwa for the help!

amelia and i after finishing up our make-up etc, went abt washing toilets.
thought it was pretty funny and cool.
she is really an awesome and fabulous lady.
she never forget to appreciate the pple she meets.
and it was great fun cleaning up the toilets with her.
we were abt to hit the third level when howard and some guys stopped us and wanted us to join the rest in the hall.
indeed, we shld always honor our word, esp since i made the promise to ensure that the toilets are washed. ^^
but they are really gracious guys. *applause*

kenn, amelia, john paul and karen were invited to lead the mass dance for the night.
(thank God that i got off the hook somehow)
they did an awesome job at it.
and our dearest kenn was nominated as the prom king of the night! *weets*
more awards were given out to various pple.
and before we knew it, the camp was coming to an end.
we got to appreciate the leaders at the end.

a salute from me to them...
the many late nights that they had to go through to plan for the camp.
despite most of them having work or school the next day.
even during the camp, they had to stay up for evaluation and planning for the next day.
it is amazing how our leaders make things happen.
like what melvin said, our camp started on sun but the leaders started theirs on wed.
thanks to all the leaders for making the breakaway camp happen.
it has blessed myself tremendously with friendships forged and also growing in my capacity.
at the same time, i have been challenged to grow in my mind and spirit.
the entire camp has not allowed us to get to know our own members better, but also allowed for us to get exposed and to know more people in the zone.
thanks for all the sacrifices that you have made to make everything work out so beautifully and for being such a great blessing. XIE XIE NI MEN!
i thank God for placing such giving leaders in my life...

i was particularly impressed with the mocca and breakawayers team.
kenn led the mocca team.
they were like the most macho and enthusiastic group around.
the team synergy was almost unbeatable.
and for everything that needed guys, they were called for. =p
the breakwayers in itself was like a mini children church, with the youngest member being 8 years old.
john paul was probably the most enthu leader ard, filled with energy.

end of the day, aside frm all the fun, i thank God that i cld grow spiritually and have made new friends with amazing pple like our dear ms chio (annie), howard and amelia.
looking forward to the camp next year...

looking back to move on...
