day of random meetings...

only attended 2 lectures today cause the other 2 was cancelled, but had loads of fun meeting up the different ones.

enjoyed catching up with angie over lunch. marche's crepe is yummylicious since it is topped with fresh cut strawberries. and i also got my favorite rosti with whipped cream from there! talked about many many things together. looking forward to meeting her up again next week for bs also!

and finally got to see daniyal after a looooong holiday break. looking forward to have him join the ntu peeps more often this sem. :D

tuition today with william was great fun despite my sleepiness. work hard and you'll see improvements in your results! he is really really smart!

saw jingzhou on my way out. goodness me! his haircut is really drastic that it took me 3 whole minutes to recognize him!!! imagine the surprise of the rest of the cg tmr. haha. he's cute! walked all the way from bukit batok to teck whye station with him. enjoyed the time catching up with him.

and on the train ride home, i actually saw TAIGONG!!!
it's rather funny how we were trying to meet each other up for our business matters but just never happened and saw each other on our way back. hehe. glad to have heard him share his life with me in some ways. taigong, jiayou!

whoo! and Cecilia shared a very exciting piece of news with me today! believing with her for greater things to come in the months ahead! and believing for the same to happen for my cg in the next few months too! *excited* you go girl!

and something else Min shared spurred me thinking...
what would i actually do upon graduation?
would i go on to pursue a masters or phd? or would i just start working?
prolly need to start thinking and planning, eben though it is still two and a half years' away...

PRAY!!!

obedience and discipline.
both of which i need to grow loads in.

1. no more rubber timing
2. proper diet ( i think i might need to put some weight control measures in place)
3. proper exercise
4. no over-packing of schedule (i need to remember to breathe
5. proper management of finances

dr john is really taking my personal giving to God to another level with his teachings. very much convicted and greater faith has arisen on the inside to trust God even more with my finances. gave my biggest offering ever - an amount that i never expected myself to be able to give. it is really my precious, considering this is my first income after having not worked for an entire month. not too sure how the finances for the rest of the month will turn out but one thing i;m sure is that by giving what God has spoken, He will definitely bless me back and prosper me in return. really trusting God with my financial goals and possible income sources. hopefully i will be able to increase my sources of income next year and that i will earn double of what i'm earning now each month.

the amazing thing that really blew me away is that as i wrote on the offering envelope last Sunday to be able to give to God at least a $100 every month in offering after paying my tithes. and the next thing i knew is that this week i gave above and beyond what i had purposed in my heart to give in an entire month. truly, there is something greater in store for me. praying for increments in current tuition jobs and new business opportunities to work out well. angels will be there to guard and protect and open up doors. AMEN!

with the bills to pay, the money that i need to save up for the korea trip, winter wear clothing that i need to buy, i am really trusting God to provide for me. even more so, i am asking God for the wisdom and the creativity to handle my finances properly. i know my breakthrough is coming. and i will be able to provide for my parents in 2010.

financial goal for 2010: financial independence once i turn 21.

financial goal for 2012: graduate debt-free

in faith and with hard work, all things are possible!
and in the midst of these pursuits, first and foremost is still focusing on developing the people around me, helping them to reach their destinies.

money is not the end. it is just a mean to do what God wants done.
and by being financially free, we can do what God wants done without the extra consideration of where the money is going to come from...

just got back from Joyce's 21st birthday celebration which was a great hit! with many thanks to Cheryl, Brian, Howard, Peter and Liwei for all the planning and actions carried out.

always loved time-out together with this bunch of pple. always filled with much fun, laughter and love. sparks may be flying here and there but the camaraderie is going great. love it!

an ode to Joyce...
thanks for being the can-do woman for all of us. always so selfless, loving and giving, never withholding. the standards are set so high, but yet never imposed on others but self. she is truly a woman of our times. Joyce, rock on with your zest and zeal and continue making an impact in the year ahead! You deserve it babe!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

the travelling back to school was yet another great time of hilarity. with six of us walking down the street like we own the road, we do look kinda distraught. to think we saw a maxi-cab and thought the uncle signaled for us to go over and to only see him board the cab and go off when he saw us walking over. God, bless this man. we wonder what went wrong.

it was quite a sight to see us walking down the street with all our 'barangs' and stopping cabs that came along our way. i think we were only short of singing to have gotten really 'high'. but anyway, thankful for the third cab that stopped and sent us all back to our lovely school and comfort of Karu's home. which now i get the luxury of blogging. haha.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

today feels different yet again. with myself all dolled up, with kudos to min and karu, the attention got a bit overwhelming but yet pleasant. with a little effort, i could really look so much better. hehe. feeling a little bit more feminine now. thanks gals for showing me the way! =p

with that aside, went for a waffles treat with bestie today. i'm glad that this long overdue treat has now been given and now both of us enjoy the liberty of waffles. it seems like an end but yet the start of something different - or perhaps, it has always been a continuation. the conversations that we had granted me greater insights of the friendship that we both share. but even more so, what is it that i really want to see God do in our lives - the destiny and calling He has for each of us. there is so much that each of us can do in our individual capacity. i'm learning not to be hung up over certain areas now. and more than ever before, the serenity that i feel in my heart to not think so much but to be led and just do it.

things may change but i know that God never will. and that settles many many of the issues and questions that i may have now. even i don't know, He knows. i just need to learn to hear and follow...

looking forward to greater breakthroughs and growth...

had my hg205 article presentation on tues and went to talk to bee abt it. got a B+, which i'm rather pleased with considering how i've been faring in my linguistic modules. i think it is a breakthrough considering how i have a tendency to get 'stage fright' and stutter. and the best thing yet is that i could respond very quickly and aptly to all the questions that was being thrown at me. really thank God for the grace although having only read the article once. Bee felt that the responses i gave were well-fielded. and an observation min made was that sherman gave an approving and satisfied look after i answered his query, which is super rare since he usually has valid point of rebuttal. =)

today is the third day of the morning pms. thank God for friends for sleeping early reminders and i got up early enough to reach paya lebar on time. shall aim to be in the hall before the whole meeting starts. anyway, i really enjoy starting my day with God. the peace and the love can never be compared. not forgetting the words that were spoken...

had steamboat with weiliang, ziyun and min after a long discussion for HG205. was fun fellowshipping together after a long day before hitting the books again, or rather, put our mouth into practice. really appreciate the friends i've been making in uni. they do aid in keeping sanity in some sense...

went off to fellowship with wei thereafter. was challenged, inspired and touched by what she shared. and i got reminded that many a times, we shortchange ourselves in our lives through the decisions we make. sometimes, the mistakes do help us to learn but often, at the expense of receiving less than what we should have been able to receive.

it saddens and pains us to see that happening to those who are dear to our hearts. but isn't it true that the one case we see in a blue moon is actually a norm to God? and that everyday there would be someone who make that mistake. imagine then, the intensity of what God feels as compared to what we feel. i'm challenged to live right to reach the fullest potential of my life, developing it in all areas. and at the same time, to give my best in helping to shape the next generation. there is a price to pay to live right and it is a choice that we make daily. wei, keep on keeping on. she has been a real inspiration to me today. and to sum it all, there is a price that comes with leadership and the price is paid for in instalments without knowing the total amount. but yet, we see ourselves growing and our capacity expanding, blooming into people we never have imagined that we would ever become...

time is a very good friend when we learn to appreciate it...

saturation point...
my brain is practically fried after all the information processing and brainstorming for my HG205 presentation, HW111 Assignment and HG205 Research Proposal. and today is only tuesday!

but i guess it is probably due to the lack of sleep. i'm almost a full panda in the making with very prominent eyebags. but amidst all, i'm enjoying the daily prayer in church, i shall get up earlier to go tmr, implying that i should really sleep earlier today. *keeping fingers crossed* it is always great to start and end off your day hearing from your abba. ^^

next week gonna be loaded before the mid-term break. i'm seriously contemplating about my trip to cameron for a short getaway, but would definitely need to balance it up with the deadlines...

from now till next week...
1. HG205 Article Review (1500words)
2. Phonetics Quiz
3. Sociolinguistics Quiz
4. HG 205 Research Proposal (1500words)
5. Hw111 Assignment 2 (500 words)
6. HW111 Assignment 3 Outline

from mid-term to before examinations...
1. HG 212 Quiz
2. HG 212 Project Work
3. HG 205 Research Project
4. HG 205 Chairing
5. HG 220 Quiz
6. HG 220 Research Project
7. HW 111 Assignment 3
8. HW 111 Assignment 4
9. HG 203 Research Project

and to top it all off, i still have more than 300 pages of readings to do weekly, not including all the background research and readings that has to be done for the research project. i wonder who ever said that university is easier than A levels...

let the weak say that i am strong for i have You with me...

today marks the start of the first week of prayer meeting in 2009. went for the evening session since i went for citycare @ northview this morning.

i enjoyed my day doing things that i like and also mugged quite a fair bit, churning out my article review for presentation. still on it now but shouldnt take too long from now...

anw, today's prayer meeting was great. felt really challenged to want to take praise for the next ntu pm to stretch my own faith and capacity. and the next step wld be to sms francis. but it was indeed a great faith-infilling time. prayed for wisdom in who to deposit love units into and also to watch who i allow to deposit in. i think we all need to learn...

and i'm glad that pastor taught us on the love bank principle. been quite a while now that i didn't know how to go about praying for this area of my life. and now with specificity and persistency, i'm making my prayer request known to my abba...

had a fall while i was rushing a few days back. was rather painful for a moment and it brought on a whole lot of other issues with it too. the pain was not just solely physical but also on the inside. i guess the fall was a tipping point for myself. through it, i learnt new things, and some of it were reminders of what i have had learnt...

falling down is really part of our lives, like the mistakes that we make. and they are never a 'full stop' unless we allow it to (quoting from yieling). the mistakes i make are not final nor
 fa
tal unless i allow them to be. when we fall down, we just got to get up and try again. if we stay down, that would probably then mark the end for us at that point.

it is pretty much like how we were learning to walk as a kid. we stumble and fumble umpteen times along the way. and each time we fall, it hurts but don't we always get up again soon after, even on our own to try walking again. imagine if because of that fall, we never got up again, we probably would never learn to walk, or even to run, hop and sprint.

from the process of learning to walk, many of us learnt to be determined and acquired some sense of resilience. but yet while growing up, we probably lost some of it along the way. but i believe that we still have it in all of us. so what if we fail and fall, we just need to get up and try again. even if things would never be the same again, at least we know we gave our best to right things. my past mistakes are PAST, i need to overcome them, get up and move on...

children are gifts from God, teaching us the lessons that we have unlearned or forgotten along the way...

and the best thing yet...
I'm off my croc platforms for a long long while!!!

RM is the craziest module this sem. with 3 hours on end, it is a lot of meat that you have to break down, digest and then ingest. a lesson whereby you have to be on your toes and throw a lot of questions while answering another chunk of them. the readings probably take up entire weekends. BUT isn't it what makes it fun too? the challenge of fulfilling the task in time and on time, all done with excellence. that shall be my goal. to be a better student in bee's class...

anyway, headed down to work today thereafter. another pile of work to do. wei suggested that i am a workaholic - i guess i am at times. but really thankful for the fellowship over dinner i had with her. she is just AWESOME! there is always something that i could learn from her each time we meet up, even for the time we chanced upon each other and ended up having duck rice at my dad's.

lesson of the day - we create the change we want.
complaining doesnt help. it simply allows you to sink into and in-dwell within the situation that you complain about. each of us have the ability to create the change we want. a saying aptly summarizes it all that God grant us the serenity to accept the things we cannot change and the courage to change the things we can. Are we willing to be bold to create the change we want to see or are we going to settle for someone else to do it? and usually, nothing happens after all the waiting. the key is in the NOW!!! Be the change that you want to see and amidst all, always be thankful.

i am thankful for the fellowship that i have been receiving these days. i am seeing a change in the demography of my friends, especially the ones that i am drawing closer to nowadays. it seems like my prayers are gradually being answered and a desire being granted. i am excited for the girl friendships that i am forging with different people and i am truly blessed. looking forward to more time being spent with wei and the rest in this year! *weets*

the ability to always be thankful in itself is a gift that we need to be thankful for...
